Our Story

Gary Cooper, owner of Cooper Services,  is a fourth-generation painter.  His father taught him the craft of hanging wallpaper in the early 1990s.  Gary and his younger brother James took those skills and began working as sub contractors for general contractors under the name Cooper Wallcovering. 

Commercial Excellence

For over 14 years, the brothers specialized in large-scale hotel  renovations, primarily for the Marriott brand. Their work included:

• Painting
• Removal and reinstallation of commercial wall covering
• Skim coating walls
• Drywall Installation & Drywall Finishing
• Wall Texturing

Their reputation for attention to detail and high quality work earned them major projects  such as.

• The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Atlanta(520 Rooms)
• J.W. Marriott in Orlando (740 rooms).

Gary eventually took on the role of  running the 15-20 man paint and wall covering crews. He ensured jobs stayed on schedule  while maintaining the highest standards through detailed quality control and punch-out work. 

Adapting to Industry Changes

As design trends evolved, wallcoverings were phased out in favor of painted and textured finishes Cooper Wallcovering adapted quickly, becoming experts at.

• Removing popcorn ceilings
• Skim coating ceilings to a perfectly smooth finish
• Spraying knockdown and orange peels textures
• Finishing with premium Sherwin Williams paints

Moving to Sarasota & Residential Focus

In 2013, Gary moved to the Sarasota area with his fiance (now wife) Farrah. With her encouragement, he launched a residential painting business. After working as a subcontractor and seeing middlemen -often franchisees- take up to 50% of the labor value on smaller projects, Gary decided to build Cooper Services as a direct-to-customer, family-owned company.

Cooper Services is a small family- owned painting business that believes in quality and doing the job correctly while saving homeowners money by avoiding heavy overhead costs.  Gary has over 25 years of experience painting, finishing drywall, spraying textures, and completing high-quality home exteriors.

In the last 6 years, Gary and his small crew have painted the interior and exterior of hundreds of homes.  We are located in Sarasota & serve Sarasota, Siesta Key, Long Boat Key, Lakewood Ranch/Bradenton, Osprey, Nokomis, Venice, Parrish and surrounding areas.
